Schleich's small, colorful spring calf frolics about the pasture, inquisitively discovering the exciting world around it. Where did all those colorful spots on its body come from? Did it eat too many of the colorful spring flowers in the pasture? Or did it fall into Farmer Paul's paintbox? Did the calf meet up again with its friends from the other schleich® worlds and come away from each of its adventures with a small dab of paint on its body? In any case, the colors suit the calf splendidly.
The Aardvark is at home in the African savannah and looks more like a rabbit with its long ears, but that's where all the similarities end. Instead of carrots, it prefers to eat ants. With its long snout, it cleverly sniffs out insects living underground and digs them up in no time at all. It's especially active at night. Who will stay awake long enough to keep the Aardvark company?

The mighty Cape Buffalo raises its head and sniffs the air. With its black muzzle, it can sniff out exactly whether strangers are approaching the herd. The buffalo finds it hard to decide: can they keep on grazing or is an enemy closing in? If a strange buffalo tries to approach the herd, it doesn't miss a beat. At a gallop, he charges the uninvited guest, stopping just short of the stranger and lowers its big head. It snorts angrily, pawing at the ground. Its huge horns look so impressive that most intruders will trot off right away. All the better!
Baby elephants are still quite clumsy after their birth and must first learn how to handle their trunks. They are still not able to feed themselves with it, so suckle from their mothers for the first year. In the process they gain a good kilo in weight each day. It is very important that they grow big quickly, because a lion or crocodile can hardly cause any harm to healthy, adult animals. If a predator does come dangerously close, the adults form a circle around the young. They are well protected in the middle.
Crafted with precision and authentic detail to create a lifelike toy that teaches and inspires toddlers and kids; helps introduce children to animals. From the first sketch to the intricate finishing touches, we see value in every detail.
While elephants cannot hear any better than other animals with their huge ears, they help them to cope with the African heat. Schleich toys are great gifts for kids ages 3+ and are ideal for stocking stuffers, birthday gifts, Christmas gifts and holiday gifting.

The Armadillo really is unique with its thick scaly carapace. It covers the whole body, leaving only the pointed nose and eyes exposed. The long nose gives it away: the Armadillo has a keen sense of smell to sniff out insects even when they are buried deep in the ground. It doesn't mind the heat. After all, it is at home in South America and used to hot days.
The trunk of an elephant is as versatile as a Swiss army knife. Not only can the elephant smell really well with it it uses it to suck in water steady itself lift trees up high or spray itself with cool mud. The elephant eats by wrapping its trunk around leaves and grasses whereby it plucks them from the tree and feeds them into its mouth. A grown animal devours up to 150 kg of green foliage a day. Elephants can even pronounce human-like words with their trunks. To do this they put their trunks in the mouth and place it on the tongue.
The Badger from schleich® WILD LIFE is a nocturnal predator of the marten family. The black and white coat, long snout, stocky body and short sturdy legs are other features of this animal. Badgers live in hilly forest areas of Europe and feed on earthworms, insects, rodents, grains and berries. Badgers use their powerful paws to dig extensive branched funnel systems underground, which are used over generations.
Badgers have a massive body with a short tail and short, stocky legs. On their feet they have large and powerful claws. Badger fur is very bristly and grows over a rough, loosely fitting skin. A characteristic of the badger is that their colouring is the other way around to normal mammal colouring: The back is lighter than the belly. Hand painted figurine from the Schleich Wild Life Collection. Non-scale figurine.
