F-4M Phantom FG.1
# ITA1434
Designed by the American company McDonnell Douglas and entered into service during the sixties, the F-4 Phantom II two-seater all-time supersonic fighter-bomber is among the best-known and most famous aircraft in the history of military aviation. From the 1960s to the 1980s it was widely used by the United Kingdom and was produced, in numerous dedicated versions, for both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force to carry out air defense, close support, ground attack and reconnaissance tasks. The Royal Navy began using the Phantom from 1964 to replace the dated Sea Vixen still in service with the primary role of ensuring the air defense of the fleet and operating from the flight deck of British aircraft carriers. Very similar to the versions produced in the United States, the Phantom FG.1 and FGR.
