C -130J Hercules

Although it retains the familiar shape of the Hercules, which has been flying in the skies around the world for many decades, the C-130J is a largely redesigned aircraft. The most visible change is the 4,700 hp Rolls-Royce (Allison) AE2100D3 engines, with six-bladed composite propellers that ensure great silence while reducing fuel consumption. Among the performances, the rate of climb and the range have benefited most from the new engines. But another no less important change concerns the avionics. The C-130J is progressively assuming the role of standard medium transport of many NATO countries, including Italy.
