This Rhino figurine is part of a collection of 6 wooden figurines sold individually. They take up the clean lines of the sculptures of the artist Pompon, a contemporary of Rodin.
With his small portable workbench, the sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933) liked to take a walk in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. There he could observe the animals and model small sketches. Back in his studio, he sculpted bears, panthers, but also dogs, chickens and rabbits, simplifying the shapes to find the very essence of each animal. His sculptures are reinterpreted by the artist Gérard Lo Monaco, and in collaboration with the Réunion des Musée Nationaux and the Musée d Orsay, Vilac pays homage to this brilliant artist by making this magnificent range of beech wood figurines in his workshops in the Jura. From 18 months.
